When you start with bare dirt, uneven grades, and a brand-new build that still has zero curb appeal - every decision matters. That was exactly the situation here in Luck, WI. The whole yard needed to be built from scratch, and the scope of work was significant: two Blue Granite Boulder walls, two walk paths, landscaping beds, a full lawn installation, and a gravel driveway.
We started by laying everything out on the ground before a single boulder got placed. You can see the spray-painted layout lines marking exactly where the beds, paths, and walls would go. That planning phase is what keeps everything tight and intentional once the heavy work starts. No guessing, no adjusting on the fly.
The Blue Granite Boulder walls are the anchor of the whole design. Those boulders aren't lightweight - they have real presence. We used them to define edges, hold grade changes, and give the property a natural, rugged character that fits right in with the Wisconsin northwoods feel. Flanking the walk paths with smaller granite edging stones ties the whole thing together and keeps the gravel from migrating.
The gravel driveway came in clean and wide, with the straw-mulched lawn seeding covering the rest of the yard. Straw keeps the seed from washing during rain and holds moisture while it establishes - a detail that matters a lot on a sloped site like this one. The curved walk paths with flat granite stepping stones add function and a finished look without overcomplicating things.
This is the kind of job that takes a property from raw construction site to a place that actually feels put-together. Getting all of it done - walls, paths, beds, lawn, and driveway - under one scope means everything is graded, edged, and finished to work together.
