Here's what we were working with - a settled, cracked concrete walkway that had seen better days. The slabs had shifted, there were gaps where sections had separated, and the whole thing just wasn't functioning the way it should. Not exactly a great first impression, and honestly a tripping hazard waiting to happen.
We pulled it all out and started fresh. In its place, we laid a paver walkway along the side of the home and built out a full paver patio at the back - complete with a clean soldier course border that ties the whole thing together. The pavers have a wood-plank texture and a charcoal tone that pairs really well with the home's cedar siding. It's a detail that makes a big difference.
The bigger challenge on this one was managing the grade. The yard drops away from the patio, and without something holding that ground in place, the whole setup would eventually shift. That's where the Blue Granite Boulder Wall came in. We stacked natural granite boulders along the front edge of the patio to anchor the grade and keep everything locked in long-term. It's the kind of structural work that doesn't always get the credit it deserves - but it's what makes the hardscaping last.
What you end up with is a space that's actually usable. A solid, level patio off the back of the home. A clean, safe walkway along the side. And a boulder wall that does real work while looking like it belongs there. That's the goal on every job - function and form, not one or the other.
This is the kind of hardscaping that adds real value to a property. Whether you're dealing with settled concrete, an unmanaged slope, or just want to upgrade what you've got, we can put together a plan that makes sense for your space and your budget.
